Biogen Idec reports death of patient on its MS pill – Boston Globe

Biogen Idec Inc. disclosed Wednesday that a patient who had taken its multiple sclerosis pill Tecfidera for more than four years died after getting a rare brain infection, sending shares of the Cambridge biotechnology company down sharply.


Given this development, it’s hard to make the case for switching from Tysabri to Tecfidera as a means of reducing the possibility of developing PML.
